Read more about Canon printers error codes and ways to fix them.
The Canon printers are one of the best and commonly preferred printers. Quite a number of their models are very popular and best suited for home or office use. The Canon printer includes an LCD display that shows several error codes whenever a hardware or software problem occurs. Each error code is unique and refers to a specific type of issue which makes the troubleshooting easier. The most common error codes are those that describe a physical problem either with a paper jam or an incorrectly placed ink cartridge. Resolving such errors is a quick process which requires only a few standard troubleshooting procedures which is the best part about a Canon printer.
Following are the most commonly seen error codes and tips to resolve them:
- Error 55
- Error 16
- Error 13
- Error 11
- Error 12
Error 55
This is one of the most complicated printer error codes. Error 55 will let you know that the internal communication between the printer and computer did not fully process for a specific or particular reason and that the DC controller on the printer is not receiving the proper information. To fix this you should check the DC controller connections. If your printer is not receiving enough power from the power supply, changing the power supply will help resolve this problem.
Error 16
Error 16 is an indication that the toner on the printer is low. The paper which goes into the printer comes out with no print on it at all. The reason can be an empty ink cartridge which can be fixed by getting a new ink cartridge or refilling the cartridge. Another reason could be the clogging of the cartridge head which can be fixed by getting the head unclogged using the various printer tools.
The Error 13 message on your printer screen is yet another common printer error code which indicates a paper jam. Accumulation of dirt, worn down printer rollers, usage of wrong paper etc are the majority of reasons for this error. The best troubleshooting for this problem is to replace the roller after a specific period of time and to keep all printer components clean.
Error 11 means that the printer is out of paper. You just have to refill the paper drawer. Be sure that the paper is aligned correctly according to the diagram or example in the paper draw and close the tray securely. Your printer will be running fine after that.
Error 12 indicates that there is no cartridge in the printer, or even the printer may be open. Check and make sure that all paper trays and parts of the printer are closed properly before you start printing. Also make sure that your cartridge is secure and does not need to be replaced before starting a printing job.
