Reset Canon® Printer
What are the tips to reset Canon printer?
On occasion, Canon brand printers would report an error that the "Ink Waste is Full that prevents the user from printing". One method that would enable the user to continue to print and postpone sending the printer to the manufacturer to perform maintenance on the ink waste tank is to perform a reset on the printer that would clear the error so that the user can then proceed with the print. Canon is a popular name in the world of printers and scanners and the products the company makes are widely used in both the home environment and the business world. For the most part a well-maintained Canon printer would provide many years of trouble-free service. But there are times operators would need to resolve problems.

Perform a Hard reset on a Canon
Turn off your computer and wait for it to shut down completely and then push the power button on the Canon printer off. Plug the USB or the parallel cable in to the back of the printer and make sure cable is securely seated. Connect the other end of cable to the computer and turn the power button on the printer back on and log on to the computer and click on the 'Start' button. Choose the 'Control Panel' from the menu and select 'Printers and Faxes' and then double-click the 'Canon printer' and click on the 'Printer' menu.
Refilling the Canon 40 ink cartridge
Remove the Canon 40 ink cartridge from your printer and slowly peel label from top of the cartridge. Wipe top of the cartridge with a piece of the paper towel to the remove any glue residue. Wipe the top of the cartridge after you are done drilling and attach needle to the syringe and load the syringe with 20cc of black ink and insert the needle into the open vent hole all the way to the bottom of the cartridge.
Using the refilled cartridge
Clean off the top of the cartridge with a paper towel and leave the vent hole open. Reinstall the Canon 40 ink cartridge into your printer and leave the cartridge in your printer for eight hours so the ink can saturate the sponge inside of the cartridge. Reset the ink cartridges and printers sensors by pressing and holding the Stop/Reset button on the front of the printer for five seconds before releasing it.
