Fix Issues when HP Network Printer Goes Offline
In some cases the error message "Printer is offline" will be displayed on your computer, and the HP printer won't print. Some printer messages are affected by the printer clearable warnings settings. Scroll to the system set-up submenu, and then scroll to either clearable warnings or Auto continue. It provides two settings, job (the default) and on. Set the amount of time so that a clearable warning is shown on the printer control panel display. The 'Job' setting determines the clearable warning message which appears until the end of the job that generated the message. The 'On' setting determines that the clearable warning message which appears until 'Select' is pressed.
Auto continue provides two settings, off and on (the default). If the printer is on a network, it should probably be set to 'On'. The on setting causes the message which appears on the printer control panel display, and the printer goes offline for ten seconds, before returning online if an error occurs that prevents printing. The 'Off' setting causes the messages to remain on the printer control panel display, and the printer to remain offline until 'Select' is pressed, if an error occurs that prevents printing.
