XP HP Error Codes of HP Printer on Windows® XP- Based PC
There are a number of printer error codes that can occur on Windows XP HP printer. Those grouped in a certain series are all related and therefore their solutions are relatively similar and quite simple. With as many error codes as there are, it is convenient that all codes are grouped in comprehensive groupings to ensure that easiest solution is used.
Common Errors with HP Printers:
- Paper jam-related errors
- Memory-related errors
- Machinery-related errors
- Virtual memory-related errors
Paper jam-related errors
Errors in numeric grouping 0 through 19 all are paper jam related. Ranging from printing delays to paper that is defective, these paper errors are all fairly simple, requiring as few as two step. Error code 13.99, for example, relates to a non-specific paper jam. For this particular non-specific paper jam, the user must remove the jammed paper from the location specified by the error. Then user must ensure that the paper tray is closed, then inspect the feed and separation rollers. Then the user has to decide if they need to be replaced or not. You also need to make sure that there is no obstruction inhibiting the paper from printing (a torn piece of paper, for example)The user must open and close the top cover in order to remove the message and finally check all the sensors and flags pertaining to the proper operation.
Errors in numeric grouping 20 through 49 pertain to the memory data of the printer. These errors can become rather complex; however, sometimes they are just as simple as the user attempting to transfer far too much data on a page. Error 20, in fact, pertains to having insufficient memory meaning that the printer has received more data than is available in its memory. The user simply has to press the GO button to make sure the transferred data is printed, though some of the data may be lost. The best way to stop this error, or any in this grouping, does not occur again is to attempt simplify printing jobs in the future.
Errors in numeric grouping 50 through 59 deal with the machinery, usually errors in the fuser or laser scanner. As they deal with the machinery, they are more technical, and therefore their solutions more complex. Though a solution that is not uncommon among these errors is simply turning the printer off and turning it on again.
Errors that are coded 60 or higher generally have to do with the printer’s virtually memory or RAM. There are various types of issues, however, and all of them require relatively different solutions. Again, many of the solutions require that the user turn the machine off and then turn it back on again. The next step to any one of these solutions is to perform a cold reset and then print a configuration page to ensure that the error has been fixed.
