Lanier® Carriage Jam
What are the possible causes for a Lanier carriage jam?
Lanier printers are best suited to the small business and workgroups. These printers are easy to use and provide a good print quality at really affordable prices. But while working with your printer you may encounter a jam in your carriage. Paper jams are usually obvious, but sometimes you may face a situation when there is no indication that the paper has jammed up the printer, in that case, open it up and visually inspect it to search for the jammed paper.
Paper jam may be caused due to various reasons. Some of them are discussed below:
- Overloaded Tray
- Incorrect Loading of the Paper
- Damaged or Dirty Paper Rollers
- Torn, Wrinkled, or Damp Paper
- Rear Access Door Closed or not Locked into Place
- Paper Added to a Stack while Printing
- More than One Type of Paper
Never try to overload the tray with paper for your convenience of not loading the tray time and again because it leads to unnecessary paper jam.
Incorrect Loading of the Paper
Before loading the paper, you need to hold the stack of paper, and then tap it to make the stack even on all sides. Ensure that the paper adjusters on the tray are positioned in a right manner. Push the stack of paper into the tray until it stops. Never try to force the paper too far in the tray.
Damaged or Dirty Paper Rollers
If rollers of your printer are leaving marks on the document, then you need to clean them with a wet cleaning pad. Never use chemical cleaners such as benzine, thinner, or alcohol to clean the rollers. Never load the tray with the paper with clips or staples.
Torn, Wrinkled, or Damp Paper
Avoid using the paper that is bent, torn, damp or wrinkled. Too thin, thick, or glossy paper can damage your printer.
Rear Access Door Closed or not Locked into Place
You need to ensure that the cartridges are locked into the carriage. Look for the obstructions under or around the carriage that might block it from moving.
Paper Added to a Stack while Printing
Only add paper to the tray when the product is not printing, otherwise it might damage your printer.
More than One Type of Paper
Always use one type of paper at a time. Never try to mix different types, weights, or sizes of paper. Ensure that your printer supports the paper type you are using by consulting the manual that came along with the printer. Maximum paper size for Lanier printer is 8.5" x 14". It also supports 11" x 17" in some models.
