Lexmark™ Printer Error Codes
Lexmark printer error codes are diverse, but for the most part can be easily fixed.
There are several types of error codes that you may get while operating Lexmark printers. Ranging from problems with cartridges to problems with the duplex unit, some of the most common Lexmark printer error codes are also interrelated.
- Lexmark printer error codes due to incorrect paper type
- Lexmark printer error codes due to problems with exit sensor
- Lexmark printer error codes due to problems with cartridges
Lexmark printer error codes due to incorrect paper type
There are a few errors that deal directly with the type of paper that is loaded in the machine. Errors “20” and “200” as well as Errors “23” through “24” all deal with paper problems. Errors “20” and “200” both are attributed to the Input Paper Sensor. These errors usually occur when the sensor is not triggered. If this is the case, the most logical solution is to find out whether paper is jammed around the sensor. The user should remove the toner cartridge in order to have a better access to the paper jam spot.
Error “23” also deals with paper. If this error occurs, it is most likely that there is a paper jam at the duplex unit, meaning that the paper is either not leaving the duplex entry sensor in time or the paper is not making or unmaking the exit sensor in time. If Error “24” is displayed, that means that the paper size is incorrect for the tray. Usually, the paper is too small to print the data that is being requested.
Lexmark printer error codes due to problems with exit sensor
There are a couple of errors that deal exclusively with the exit sensor. While Error “23” is affected by the exit sensor, Errors “21” and “22” indicate direct problems with the sensor itself. Error “21” indicates that the exit sensor was not made in time following the creation of the input sensor. Conversely, Error “22” indicates that the exit sensor was not unmade in time.
Lexmark printer error codes due to problems with cartridges
There are a few errors that result due to problems with the cartridges. Errors “30” through “32” all deal directly with issues in the cartridges. Error “30” indicates that there is a print cartridge missing. It also indicates that the top cover is open. If this occurs, the user should ensure that the spring mounted pin on the print head shroud is properly installed. This will ensure that the printer cartridge is identified.
Error “31” indicates that the top front cover is closed, yet there is a defective print cartridge in the machine. If this is the case, it may take up to 20 seconds for the printer to recognise the printer cartridge as defective. The user must then replace the cartridge. Error “32” indicates that the wrong print cartridge has been installed. Mostly, this means that the print cartridge is not supported by the Optra printer. This simply means that the user must replace the existing cartridge with the correct one that is compatible with the printer model.
