Tech Support for Toshiba® Printer Error on Windows® XP®
What are the errors associated with Toshiba printers installed on a Windows XP-based computer?
There are a number of Toshiba printer error codes, many of which deal with the printer drivers themselves. These errors can occur if there are problems with the connection between the printer and the computer. It is imperative that the drivers be compatible with both the printer and the computer or the printer will not be able to function properly. The problem can range from the printer not printing at all to actual damage to the printer itself.
Some of the common errors on Toshiba printer are:
- Error codes due to incompatible drivers
- Error codes due to connection problems with the computer
- Error codes due to improper installation of drivers
Error codes due to incompatible drivers
Most errors that there are on the Toshiba printer have to do with the printer drivers. Error Codes “1” through “49” indicate compatibility problems between the drivers and the computer. Sometimes, error codes simply inform the user that the device is not functioning at all. If that is the case, then the drivers are not compatible and the user must go to the manufacturer’s website and ensure that he or she has the latest version of the drivers. Many of the error codes associated with the drivers inform the user that Windows is not able to identify the driver, though the driver may be functioning properly. For instance, if Windows is incapable of identifying the driver, then the printer will simply not print. Again, the best solution for these types of errors is to ensure that the user has the correct driver installed for the printer, so that it is detected and read by the computer’s operating system. Visiting the manufacturer’s website to ensure that the latest driver is installed is the quickest way to ensure that it is correct.
Error codes due to connection problems with the computer
There are a few errors that are merely ways in which the computer is attempting to recognise the driver. Error codes “25” and “26” simply state that Windows is “in the process of setting up this device”, the device being the printer. In this case, the user simply needs to turn the printer and the computer off, detach the printer from the computer, and reboot the computer. Then once the computer has completely rebooted, reconnect the printer to it while it is also turned on. This is just a way to ensure that the computer recognizes the device as a whole. In a way, the printer acts as a USB and needs to be visible only to the computer before it functions. Removing and then reconnecting the printer is perhaps the easiest way to make sure these error codes do not continue to appear.
Error codes due to improper installation of drivers
There are codes, like error code “18”, that indicate that the user has to reinstall the driver all together. If that is the case, then the user must go to the manufacturer’s website to ensure that the driver is updated and compatible with both the printer and the computer.
