Printer cartridge installation tips
The first step of installing a printer cartridge is to turn on the printer and open the printer lid. The printer head will move into the middle of the printer to allow you to remove the old cartridge and replace it with a new one. Slowly unlatch the lock of the printer cartridges and gently pull out the cartridge; if at any moment, the cartridge or the printer head seem to be resisting, then there must be something wrong with the way you are unlatching the cartridge. Once the old cartridge is replaced, lock them in place and close the lid. The printer head will move back into place once the lid is closed.

Although clogging is rare in new ink cartridges, it is not impossible. If the test print is spotty or blotchy, then there is a chance that a small part of the cartridge is blocked by dry ink. If this happens, the printer software is capable of cleaning the cartridge. If the ink cartridge is still not printing after several attempts, then the cartridge must be faulty and it would probably need replacement.
If there seems to be nothing wrong with the ink cartridge (if they have been tested using another printer), then chances are there is something wrong with the printer head. In the same way the printer cleans the ink cartridges, the printer is also capable of realigning its head to create better prints. This option can be found in the maintenance and utility part of the printer software along with the cartridge cleaning software.
Software issues and other similar concerns
Sometimes, the reason why the printer is not printing is that there are problems with the printer software and drivers. Sometimes, the printer is working well physically, but the communication between the printer and the computer is not established because of the wrong driver and/or software. If this is the case, reinstall the printer software that comes with the printer package. If the printer driver installation disk is misplaced, then the manufacturer’s support page has the right drivers available online.
