Color and Black and White Laser Printers
What are the differences between Color and Black and White Laser printers?
Color laser printers can print your photos with good quality. These printers are good enough for your business use in newsletter or brochures. The strength of these printers lies in printing color graphics and text. They also offer you much faster printing speeds. Color laser printers are much better for batch jobs and are included with much high-duty cycles than older inkjet printers. If you are a professional photographer, you would certainly need a color laser printer. This printer can help you in taking printouts of your photos with high-color features. But if you are a student and you need to take copies of your documents only, there is no need of buying a color printer. Black and white printers are needed for you for printing documents in black and white color. The differences between these printers are: the black and white printer uses only one color toner - a black one whereas the color laser printers use four colors- black, yellow, cyan, and magenta.
Here are some notes on the working of color laser printers and the precautions to be taken while using them:
- Working of color laser printer
- Use a good laser mechanism
- Keep drum from sunlight
Working of color laser printer
For creating an image, first the imaging drum needs to be filled with a negative charge. This negative charge is then exposed using a laser from the areas where these images need to be placed. After exposing the image, image developing is started. In the developing time, the negatively charged toner jumps on to the exposed sections of the drum. This developed image is then transferred to a piece of paper. The paper is run over a heated fuser drum in which the toner is melted to the paper. The imaging drum is then cleared and the printing process starts again.
Use a good laser mechanism
The laser beam scans the entire image width at several hundred or thousand times that of an inch; the laser is fixed. A rotating mirror is used to direct the laser beam across the drum and charges the light-sensitive surfaces. If the printer has been integrated with a damaged mirror mechanism, the image would appear skewed or completely blank. If the laser is damaged, then also you would not get images from the printer. So, you alwaysneed to use a good laser and mirror mechanism in the printer .
The image drum of a laser printer is actually a part of the toner cartridge. In the color laser printer, there are four drums - one for each color. If this image drum is scratched or is left exposed for a long period to direct sunlight, it can then lose its light sensitive properties. This could result in poor toner transfer to the paper. So, you need to take care of keeping the drum from direct sunlight.
