You can delete printer driver files from the Printer Manager option as described above. But, it will not delete the files completely. As this process removes the printer but internally the spooler marks the printer for deletion. And, it does not actually delete the printer until the next time that the Spooler Service starts. Therefore, you should stop and restart the Spooler Service before attempting to recreate a printer. This can be done by altering the registry files.

For removing registry files, you need to first open the registry window. For that, click on 'Run' option in Windows Start button. Type "regedit" in the dialogue box that opens and press enter. Here the registry Windows opens which contains the entire program registry files. Remove printer files by entering in to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Here, you can find your printer files. Remove these files to fix the issue.
