Common Printer Error Messages

Are you curious about common printer error messages and how to fix them quickly?
A printer error message often appears when the printer experiences technical problems. These messages appear in the form of codes that will help the user identify what kind of problem the printer is having. To identify these printer error messages, each printer comes with an instruction manual that covers all possible error messages and printer problems a printer may have.
Here is a list of the most common printer error messages and ways to resolve them.
- Common Paper Problems
- Ink Issues
- Software or Hardware Issues
Common Paper Problems
There are two common paper problems that you can experience while using a printer. They are: “Error 11” (out of paper) and “Error 13” (paper jam). The printer often runs out of paper when there is not enough supply of paper for the whole printing job. If this happens, then simply reload the paper feeder with the right size of paper and click ‘Continue’ to finish the printing job. If a paper jam occurs, remove the paper from the printer and continue the printing job. There is no need to redo the whole printing job.
Ink Issues
The next most common printer error messages are related to the printer cartridges. Ink error messages include “Error 12” and “Error 16”. Technically speaking, Error 12 means that there is no cartridge attached to the printer head. However, there are some cases when this error message appears because the cartridge is not attached properly to the printer. If this happens, the printer will not be able to identify the presence of the cartridge and thus encounter an error. On the other hand, “Error 16” refers to a low supply of ink or toner. If this message appears, then you need to replace the ink cartridge attached to your printer.
Software or Hardware Issues
Both these problems have a vast difference in the way they are solved; however, they are classified into the same printer error message category because their solutions need more than generic printer knowledge. “Error 21” pertains to print overrun errors which mean that your printing job is too complex for the printer. If this appears, change the document by changing some fonts, images and the print settings of the document. On the other hand, “Error 55” pertains to the lack of communication between the printer and computer. Most of the time, this can be easily solved by updating the printer driver or reinstalling the current driver.
