Terminal servers are used on local area networks or LAN. These are the system that connects various other computers or devices over the network and act as the terminals for these devices. It is also called as serial server. Terminal servers usually connect the devices with RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422 serial interfaces. Set-up the printer
The first step to set-up a printer with a terminal server is the installation of printer. Select a high quality local printer and connect with the system. To configure the printer, go to the Start Menu of your system. From Start Menu select Settings. Click 'Printers' in this section and there is an option to add printers. Double click on this option, then it will open a new printer wizard. Now the printer is installed on your system.
Connect with TS port
The next step after the installation of printer is to connect the printer with TS port. This is the process which makes the printer to work on the terminal server. At first you have to connect your system to the remote desktop. In the settings select the port option and click on ‘TSxxx’ port. This feature is specific to terminal server. After that you can select a printer from the list of connected printers. Then click 'Finish'. Now your printer can work on terminal server.
Before installing printer on a terminal server, you have to enable a remote desktop connection. This can be done by making changes in the Remote Desktop Connection available in the control panel. Another thing you have to remember is make the local printer available during this session. This also can be performed in Remote Desktop Connection in the control panel.
