Remote Printer

Learn how to use a remote Printer.
Whether one has a Windows® application, Linux® server, UNIX® server or any other type of server or application, it is possible to print away from one’s computer using another computer. This is usually done by use of a Local Area network. This network enables you to operate a remote printer or in simply terms access your home/local computer from a remote location. To access one’s local computer from a remote location, the following will help:
- Set-up a remote desktop session
- Configure an LPD printer to your remote Windows® computer
- Register to a Dynamic DNS service
- Install printer share 2.2.00
Set-up a remote desktop session
Setting up a remote desktop session in one’s Windows® XP computer enables one to run programs and access files in the local computer from any Windows® XP computer in any place in the world. It is also possible to print from the remote printer to the local Windows® XP printer when this session is set.
Remote desktop session is set by clicking Start then choosing all programs, then Accessories, then communication and finally clicking at the Remote Desktop Connection.
In the Remote Desktop Connection, Options should be subsequently clicked. In the options menu the Remote Desktop connection dialog box should be chosen and the Local resources tab clicked at.
In the Local Resources tab click printers and finally connect should be clicked.
Configure an LPD printer to your remote Windows® computer
This can help Windows® XP, Windows® 2000 and other versions of Windows® access a remote printer. LPD printers will be available by simply searching the word “LPD printer” in Google™ search. An LPD printer will be configured by defining it on a computer server. Once this is done it should be possible to print from a remote location.
This option is a low cost inexpensive option of printing from a remote location.
There are many DNS services that are available and all that is required is simply searching the name “dynamic dns service” in the Google™ search engine. Once the suitable DNS service is found one should register for a domain name and subscribe to the DNS service. The service will then run on your local server enabling you to print from any remote location. DNS service is free and inexpensive.
Printer share is downloaded from the Internet. One should download it from the Internet and install it in his/her PC. You should also share it with your family and friends. Once this is done you can print from any of their computers, and they can also print to your printer from their computers.
Remote printers use terminal gateways that enable one to print to his local server from a remote server. This server may even be located very far from the remote server.
