Cannot Print from Internet Explorer®
Internet Explorer is a web browser from Microsoft that can be used for accessing Internet. It was introduced in the mid 90s and became very popular quickly. It has several usability options like web browsing, data streaming, online gaming, baking, shopping, etc. Internet Explorer can also be used for printing web pages. This option will help the users to keep a hard copy of the website that can be used for further reference. It can also be used for printing images and other documents right from the Internet Explorer. With Internet Explorer, you need not save the files into your local hard drive for printing. However, at times Internet Explorer might encounter some issues with the printing option. The print option will still be available, but nothing happens when you try to print. The reasons behind this can be several and so number of ways can be applied for fixing the issue.
- Missing 'Low' Folder
- Reset Internet Explorer
Missing 'Low' Folder
Internet Explorer uses a folder named 'Low' in the 'Temp' directory for printing purposes. The file or webpage is saved in this folder when you order the Internet Explorer to print. So absence of this 'Low' folder will cause issues and will not perform the print option. However, this issue can be fixed easily by creating an empty folder in your '...Temp' directory. To do this, open your '…Temp' folder and right click on any ‘white’ space. Select ‘New’ and then click ‘Folder’. Type 'Low' and hit the ‘Enter’ key. This will create the 'Low' folder and you will be able to print from Internet Explorer.
Reset Internet Explorer
Sometimes the problem may be caused by some incorrect settings in Internet Explorer. Resetting the Internet Explorer will change the settings to factory settings and will fix the issue related with it. Internet Explorer can show some bugs that disable the printing option like displaying an empty preview page, etc. Resetting the Internet Explorer is a fix for this issue too. To reset Internet Explorer, open it and click on ‘Tools’. Select ‘Internet Options’ and then select the ‘Advanced’ tab. Now click on ‘Reset’ to reset the Internet Explorer. Keep in mind that this will reset your settings and preferences to factory default.
Usually some add-ons can cause the Internet Explorer to prevent from printing. To check this, you can open the Internet Explorer in the ‘No add-ons’ mode. Right click on the ‘Internet Explorer’ icon and select ‘Browse without add-ons’ or ‘Start without add-ons’. If you find that Internet Explorer can print now without any problems, then the problem is surely with the case of add-ons. To disable the add-ons, open Internet Explorer and open ‘Tools’ menu. Click on ‘Manage Add-ons’ and click ‘All add-ons’ under the ‘Show’. Select the add-on you want to disable and then click the ‘Disable’ button. If you are not sure about which add-on is causing the problem, try trial and error method by disabling each add-on one by one.
