Inkjet Printer Troubleshooting
How to troubleshoot inkjet printer problems?
Inkjet printer works by propelling variably-sized droplets of liquid or ink on pages. They are the most common type of computer printer used by consumers. You can face various inkjet printer problems. But troubleshooting is a common skill that should be acquired by anyone who deals with an inkjet printer on a daily basis.
The following points will provide a better understanding of problems with inkjet printers and how to troubleshoot them:
- Software problems troubleshooting
- Printer maintenance
- Paper problems
Software problems troubleshooting
One of the most common inkjet printer troubleshooting skills one must have is related to printer software. Problems with communication between the printer and computer often occur when the wrong driver, outdated driver or no driver is installed on the computer. Examples of these problems are the printer not printing the document or, if it does print, the printer prints unintelligible symbols on the paper. To solve this issue, check that the correct printer driver is installed on the computer. If the printer driver installation disk is damaged or lost, the way to check the correct printer driver is to visit the manufacturer’s website.
If the printer is printing blots and smudges on the paper, chances are the printer head is damaged. Replacing printer head is the only solution to, make sure that the printer is kept clean and that no dust or dirt particles are stuck within the printer. Older models of printers have the print heads installed on the printer, which gets damaged over time with use. To solve this issue, newer models install the metal strip on the ink cartridge; that way, each time the ink is replaced, a new print head is installed on the printer, giving a better and fresher print on paper. However, if you are using an older inkjet printer model, you should regularly clean the printer using compressed air and alcohol swabs (to clean the printer head). The alcohol can clean up the ink blots that clog the print head.
In some cases, paper dust can cause white lines on your prints, thus causing damaged prints and ink blots on your documents. These paper dust problems can be easily cleaned by compressed air. Sometimes, wrong printer settings on the software can create conflicts on the prints creating wrong prints and damaged prints. Make sure that the printer settings match the measurements of the paper you are loading in the feeder bin.
