How could you install HP printer and what are the system requirements for it?

The HP printers offer high quality color models. The Inkjet and All-in-One printers of HP supports printing of photos, shop-quality documents and marketing materials; and also prints larger formats. The various system requirements for installing HP printers are that the system should at least have any Windows Operating system such as Windows XP, Windows 2000 Pro, Windows Me or Windows 98. It must have a processor of at least Pentium II or greater, a 64MB of RAM and at least 500MB of hard disk. The system must have at least SVGA monitor with 800 x600 resolution. The system should also support USB port and CDROM drive. You could install the HP printer either with the installation CD or installation software downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. For installing HP printer, first of all you have to download drivers for the device. For this go to Support and Drivers page. From that select ‘Download drivers and software‘. Now enter your product number and then click on the ‘>>’ button. After that, select your Operating System such as Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows XP etc from the list of options. Then select the basic driver or a driver and software package from the list of options. Then click the ‘Download only’ button. Then you will be asked “Would you like to save this file?” Then click on ‘Save File‘. Now follow the on-screen instructions to finish your installation. Once the installation is complete, you could restart the computer.

Following are the issues that might occur while installing HP printer in your system:
  • Windows Logo testing error
  • Error Code
  • Error like “Access Is Denied”

Windows Logo testing error

While you have connected the HP printer to a computer with a USB cable, you will get a message like “The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP”. The error informs the users to ensure that they don’t install incompatible third-party software onto Windows XP which causes problems with the Operating System. In HP, you can complete the installation process and use the printer on Windows XP without issues by clicking on the ‘Continue Anyway‘ button.

Error Code

The error code like “Error Situation Code 16255569” will be displayed in the ‘Details’ section of the printer’s installation software. The error might look complex and confusing, but the causes are fairly straightforward. Sometimes the printer does not receive enough electricity which is caused by a surge protector or back-up power supply. You could resolve the problem by plugging the printer directly into an electrical passage during the installation. Sometimes the USB cable might be at error either because it is not inserted correctly into the plugs in the computer and printer or because it is damaged and needs to be replaced. A defective USB port on your PC can also generate the error.

Error like “Access Is Denied”

While installing the printer on your PC, you might observe an error message pop up that shows “Access is denied“. This error might be stated as “There was a problem installing this hardware” or “an error occurred during the installation of this device” or “Cannot install this hardware”. HP recommends keeping the error message open so that you can locate it while you troubleshoot the situation. If you have closed the window, then start the process again so you can refer to the error. You need to solve the problem otherwise you won’t be able to continue with the installation process. This error deals with the access permissions of user profile in Windows XP.
