2.7 million printers shipped to India in 2011
A total of 2.7 million printers were shipped to India in the year 2011, as reported by Netscribes (India) Pvt. Ltd., a knowledge consulting and solutions firm with clientele all across the globe. Printer shipments leapfrogged by 5.2% from the year 2010, Netscribes found out.
The rise in printer shipments was attributed to the presence of highly active industry verticals. To add to that, massive small and medium business (SMB) population, which complement exponential content generation growth in the country are the driving forces behind the fledging printer market in India, Netscribes reported. The SMB sector’s contribution to the overall printer market in India stands at a whopping 60%.
Other factors contributing to the rise in the printer demand in India include the huge PC base and ever-declining prices of printers. Strong footing of foreign brands bought in competition in the printer market, of India, which in turn led to decline in prices.
