Canon® U.S.A. announces inkjet cartridge recycling program
Although science and technology have done numerous wonders to mankind, but it has failed to work in that capacity to benefit our environment. Instead, they have an endless record of causing adverse effects on the environment. Many major companies and industries have realized this fact and are taking corrective steps to save it. Canon U.S.A., Inc., is also taking a step to contribute something towards the environment. They are planning to recycle their own products so that the environment will not have to bear the burden of their used and obsolete products.
Canon U.S.A. has announced a new nationwide inkjet cartridge recycling program in collaboration with FedEx Office, Sims Recycling Solutions, and Close the Loop. They are planning for a treatment of their own recyclable materials in order to have a judicial utilization of the environmental resources. "Environmental responsibility and awareness have always been a top priority for Canon, and recycling is one of the simplest yet most beneficial aspects of this," said Yuichi Ishizuka, executive vice-president and general manager, Imaging Technologies and Communications, Canon U.S.A.
Their plan involves a free of cost program to all Canon consumers, where they can dump empty PIXMA inkjet cartridges at more than 1,600 FedEx Office Print and Ship Centers all over the United States. The cartridges will be consolidated by Sims Recycling Solutions, which is known for the large-scale processing of electronic waste. After that, the Canon ink will be sent to Close the Loop, which specializes in recycling of the inkjet cartridges. The components from the recycled cartridges can be reshaped into materials for other products. For example, Close the Loop’s recyclable innovations include pens and markers from inkjet plastics and inks, industrial colorants from recycled ink, and more.
This is a part of the bigger Canon Generation Green initiative that will help the customers and consumers to learn and identify the various eco-conscious features and solutions that they are offering. They are availing the best choices for possible cost savings through energy efficiency to reduce environmental burdens in all stages of a product’s life cycle. Such steps should definitely be encouraged so that other companies can also have their own innovative recycling plans. So, if you are a Canon printer user then join this initiative so that your used cartridge can be transformed into something useful and productive without putting any burden on the environment.
