3D printing - another threat evolved!
We all know how 3D printers have drastically changed the way we used to print. Now printing is not just limited to paper. You can print 3D models and replicas of almost anything tangible using 3D printers.
3D printers and their printing technology have barely evolved, but the brigades of burglars are all set to use it to spread crime. It seems that they are leaving no stone unturned to use the modern technology for enhancing their skills and carrying out their illegal acts.
This evolving technology is helping everyone, but do you have an idea how much is it helping the criminals in their malicious activities? This is perhaps the dark side of that rosy picture. These evil minds are working to create some nuisance, which you would not appreciate for sure.
What can be the major threats?
You all appreciate the replicas which the 3D printers create, don’t you? However, there are certain things and objects whose replicas you would surely not love, and these things include your home and car keys. Well, you will be amazed to know that these 3D printers which are considered as a boon are being used by the rogues to make replicas of these keys and wreck havoc.
Sportsfreunde Der Sperrtechnik – Deutschland, a member of German lock-picking group, created a key for the Dutch Police’s handcuffs. The daring fellow did all this by just using the photograph of the key and also put the photo online for others to create the same replicas.
The activities of criminals are not just limited to making replicas of keys and handcuffs. The most threatening way in which they have been using 3D printers is by making ATM skimmers and stealing money from the ATMs.
