EFI Fiery-Enabled Printers will Support Printing From Apple® iOS 5

EFI Fiery-enabled printers would soon support printing from Apple devices. Electronics for Imaging Inc., also known as EFI, is a leading company that offers color print controllers, format printers, inks, and print management solutions worldwide. The company said that EFI Fiery-enabled printers from brands, such as Canon, Konica, Kyocera, Xerox, and Ricoh will soon support printing from Apple devices operating on iOS 5. John Henze, vice president of marketing at EFI said, “With more and more people using iPads and iPhones in business settings, the demand for mobile printing from these devices has grown substantially.” He added, “We first introduced printing support for mobile devices with Apple iOS 4.2 in late 2010, and we remain committed to extending the utility of our products and adding value to our customers’ existing printing infrastructure.”

The new direct mobile printing feature would enable people, primarily employees, to remain productive wherever they are, through their Apple devices. What this new feature means, to an average employee, is that they can move around their organization and still print wirelessly on a secure network. Visitors, on the other hand, can also print by making use of the guest network.

Elaborating about this feature, the press release from the company mentions that most of the new Fiery-enabled printers come with this feature. This feature is also available as a free upgrade to many printers. Additionally, iPad and iPhone users do not need to install any driver in order to use this feature.
