Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd. has come up with a new idea to manage costs and resources effectively in offices. The Japanese company has launched a cloud-based service, which will be free of cost. This new service is meant to help companies in handling their documents without the need of printers, copiers, and multi-function equipments. Thus, with this service at place, more space will be available in offices and paper wastage will be bought to the minimum.
This new service from Fuji Xerox is managed with a software suit, which is called SkyDesk. According to Fuji Xerox, SkyDesk is a combination of contact management system and a clone of Microsoft Office. This new cloud-based service is targeted to compete with Google Docs and Microsoft Office Online. And since its free, it will be a big hit with non-profit organizations.
With the help of SkyDesk, information of the enterprise will be linked to the cloud. All the documents will be controlled centrally, which will be accessible from any smartphone and tablet computer on the network.
According to Fuji Xerox, cloud-based computing along with social networking will help to improve teamwork and check availability of staff members for meetings and get-togethers. It will also help in reducing the company’s cost by making efficient use of resources.
This new cloud-based service was announced by Lawrence Rowe, head of FX Palo Alto Laboratory, through a hologram video. He also demonstrated a new application - MyUtility. This application will help companies to monitor all the office activities through a GPS data via mobile phones, computer activity, phone traffic, and office motion sensors. All the associated equipment will be connected to the central database, which will help in tracking every movement of office workers.
Lawrence Rowe, said, "If you are running the mobile version of MyUtility it will connect up to services to provide GPS information as to where you are. All the information is reported back to the cloud server and the applications that everyone runs on their desktop or on their smartphone, goes to the server and collects the data and display it."
