You’ve heard of huge bank robberies, diamond smugglings and gold thefts but have you ever heard of theft of something that’s not even 1/10th of the gold’s price? Well, here’s a robbery which would surely interest you. Any guesses? You will be amazed that apparently, a man has been allegedly charged of stealing toner cartridges. Sounds weird right? Whatever is the story behind it but the robbery is one of its kinds.
An inner west printer and photocopying employee from Sydney has been charged for stealing toner cartridges from his employer’s office. The accused is a 35 year old; working at the Homebush-based company. As per the accusations, the culprit has been allegedly stealing toner cartridges since the year 2005. There are a total number of 23,000 cartridges that were stolen during the duration of these six years and were sold post that on private basis as well as in the black market. A total number of 5,000 cartridges have been stolen this year itself till now. As per the police, the total retail value of these cartridges is $2.4 million.
Investigators from Flemington LAC have laid charges of larceny as a servant on the accused. The accuser’s apartment was also searched by the police where 313 stolen toner cartridges were found. Although he has been granted bail, the man has been asked to appear at the Burswood Local Court on October 6.
Investigations are going on in this regard, said the police. This surely makes us wonder that the man didn’t have anything else to steal or does he have some fetish related to toner cartridges? Well, he himself knows this better!
