Printer sales go flat in Australia and New Zealand
It was a flat year for the printer market in Australia and New Zealand. Total number of printers that were sold in 2011 was approximately 2.6 million, a figure similar to the ones sold in 2010.
There were various factors that contributed to the printer sales being flat in 2011, the most notable being earthquake and subsequent Tsunami that jolted Japan. Weak consumer and business sentiments following the European economic crises didn’t help printer sales either. To top it all, the impending introduction of carbon tax in Australia also had an impact. It was indeed a challenging year for the printer market in Australia.
In spite of the prevalent economic conditions, Fuji Xerox came on top when it comes to the market share with 5%, an increase by 2% from 2010. Other major vendors such as HP, Canon, Brother, and Epson maintained their market share from the previous year.
