Terry Chouinard gets the funds to complete his Ink Dial
Every now and then there comes a man with a bright idea. This time Terrance Chouinard, who is a letterpress printer by profession, has an idea and is working on it. He is building an Ink Dial that will help printers mix colors in exact quantity for better quality of printing. But this invention is costing him money too. He needed US$ 35,000 to complete this project. He was a part of the online funding platform Kickstarter, which allows new projects in creative fields to find sponsors. The great news is that on 12th of January the fund raising was successfully completed.
On his fund raising blog Terry Chouinard says, “The Ink Dial cleanly and precisely dispenses any amount of ink, without weighing, “eyeballing” or guesswork. It allows color mixes to be accurately repeated, thus reducing waste, time and money. It's not just a tool but a simple color mixing system that allows more control over this essential part of printing.”
Terry Chouniard who himself is into the printing business wants to create the perfect machine that will do the mixing of colors in the perfect amounts, which will be no more a guesswork.
According to him, to measure ink accurately is to weigh it on scale which is still not as accurate as his invention. His new invention Ink Dial will cost the printer less ink. This will cut the production cost.
Now, with the fund being raised, we only hope to see Terry Chouniard’s invention helping the printing industry doing better business with improved quality of work.
